Aberdour Beach

Today we took Poppy & Joe to the Beach. The weather was great, and we found a really good beach to go to. Silver Sands at Aberdour.

I expected it to be colder, so we all went wrapped up well. The weather report said it would be 10c, however, the beach was really well sheltered, and in the sun. When we arrived I felt a little overdressed in my coat, when the family next to us was in t-shirts.

We:

  • Paddled in the sea.
  • Explored rock-pools
  • Tried to fly a kite
  • Built sand-castles
  • Ate Sandwiches with real sand in
  • Dug holes in the sand
  • Ate ice cream

Ah, a proper day at the beach. I’ve still got sand in my hair.

A Few Photos

First off- Thanks to the Andersons for Joes’ new favourite toy. He loves it.  Since he’s started playing with it, Poppy has also wanted to play- so suddenly, everyone’s playing with it.

Also- Poppy has suddenly started to carry a handbag. Her Grandma bought it for her. She puts either wooden building blocks in, or pots of playdough- just what every girl needs around town.

New Year’s Day

With good intentions on New Year’s Day all four of us set out for an afternoon walk. After about 10 minutes in the car Poppy & Joe were sleeping, and Deird wasn’t far off.  So instead, we just drove around enjoying the scenery (and the warm comfort of the car) for a couple of hours.

Eventually, Poppy woke up. We were close to South Queensferry,  so Poppy & I took a very short walk along the seafront, whilst Joe and Deird snoozed in the car.

Here’s Poppy at the lifeboat station slipway in South Queensferry- with the bridge behind her for effect. Even in this weather (1 degree C) it was dificult to stop her from paddling.

And yes, they are socks on her hands. They stay on better than gloves, and she tries to take them off less.

Joe’s getting bigger.

Here’s some new shots of Joe- he’s getting bigger, and starting to interact with what’s round him more and more- his hands go out to you and he smiles a lovely little smile when we get close- although I think he’s going to be pulling (and holding onto) hair really soon. I wonder how Poppy will react to that? tears to come?
