Box No 45 – 1991/92 Holidays and more DIY

This box of photographs is the first one that didn’t have their details recorded at the time. I had run out of the circular magazines and their file cards, and at the time I was very much involved with house improvements and modernisation, as a consequence the slides were left in their original postal delivery boxes. The only details that can be confirmed are dates and people.

Our annual holiday that year was caravanning on the South Coast with Jean & Tony P. Part of the time we camped behind a quiet country pub (Five Bells) in the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, What a great name for a village and a good place to camp.

These pictures are a brief record of our activities as we continued to improve the exterior of our recently purchased house.

Except for the big slab at the end of the drive Shirley and I mixed and laid all the concrete. A well meaning friend on seeing Shirley loading sand, aggregate and cement into the mixer with a small plastic bucket, suggested she use a bigger one. He was told not to be so silly as she was already having trouble lifting the small one.

With the drive, gate, railings and lawn finished we still had time to plant a few flowers but the white windows still showed where we had to install the rest of the new double glazed units.

Holidays were a caravanning weekend with friends in the Lake District (not able to use our caravan), a long weekend to visit London, and two weeks with our caravan in Southern England.

This Box(44), is the last of my properly recorded pictures. DIY and other activities made me quite lax, so from now on photo details other than the date will be from memory.
