Mary showed me how to make it- she passes the recipe onto anyone who wants it- so I&#8217;m doing the same.  You need to find a course wholemeal flour. I&#8217;ve not seen it in England or Scotland, so when in Ireland, stock up!<\/p>\n<p>3\/4lb wholemeal flour(coarse)<br \/>\n1\/4lb plain white flour<br \/>\n1tsp salt<br \/>\n1tsp bicarb soda<br \/>\nHandful of pinhead oatmeal (for topping)<br \/>\nSm handful brown sugar<br \/>\nsmall pot of Buttermilk<\/p>\n<p>Mix to wet sticky dough, lightly kneed, and slap onto a baking tray<br \/>\nHot oven to 450f for 30-45min <\/p>\n<p>I love this stuff with a bit of butter, and fresh sliced tomatoes! mmmm.<\/p>\n<p>(recipe 2)<br \/>\nWheaten bread #2<br \/>\n4 cups brown bread flour<br \/>\n2 cups sr white<br \/>\n1\/2 pt butter milk + water<br \/>\n1 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 tsp soda<br \/>\n180c for 1hr<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wheaten bread is a brown soda bread- This is an Irish recipe, and tastes fantastic.
