175g dates
\n175g sugar
\n175g SR flour
\n50g butter
\n2 eggs
\n1tsp bicarb soda
\n1\/2dps vanilla essence

Chop dates & boil with 1\/2pt water
\nAdd bicarb & cool
\nMix butter & sugar, add eggs & fold in flour.
\nadd dates & vanilla
\nbake 20-25min @ 180c<\/p>\n
Toffee sauce
\n200g soft brown sugar
\n125g butter
\n6tbl double cream
\n1\/2 tsp vanilla
