{"id":839,"date":"2017-07-16T21:42:16","date_gmt":"2017-07-16T20:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.notnick.com\/cookbook\/?p=839"},"modified":"2024-09-15T12:25:37","modified_gmt":"2024-09-15T11:25:37","slug":"cheese-scones-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.notnick.com\/cookbook\/cheese-scones-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Scones &#8211; Best Cheese"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cheese scones are a family recipe. mum always made them, and this is the closest I can get&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients makes 6 scones<br \/>\n225g self raising flour<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp Pinch salt<br \/>\n1 tsp English mustard powder<br \/>\nhandful of finely chopped parsley (optional, makes them green!)<br \/>\n1 tsp baking powder<br \/>\n55g butter<br \/>\n130g cheddar cheese plus some extra for sprinkling on top<br \/>\n1 egg plus enough buttermilk to make up 80-90 ml,\u00a0 plus extra for glazing<\/p>\n<p>Method<br \/>\nPreheat oven with the baking tray inside to 180.C. In a bowl mix the flour, salt, mustard and baking powder.<br \/>\nRub the butter into the dry ingredients. Sprinkle the grated cheese into the breadcrumb mixture and fold in Try not to mix too much as the heat from your hands may start to melt the cheese.<br \/>\nMake a well in the centre of the mixture mix in the butter milk to make a soft dough.<br \/>\nLightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to approximately 2cm thick. Cut out the scones with a medium cutter and then place on the hot oven tray.
