Poppy’s new walker

Eugene & Aisling- Thanks for the baby walker. Poppy loves it, and although the flat is small, Poppy is using her walker to get around. She’s figured out it’s quicker than crawling, but hasn’t quite got the driving skills to get round incident free. It’s like watching her mum with a supermarket trolley!

Anyway- check the video link above, and see Pops with her new toy.

New to Notnick.com

I’ve been tinkering with the site recently and have added a few toys to it.  I can now post video I’ve taken, or link to youtube etc. Also, whenever there’s a new post onto the site- subscribers can/will get an email to say Notnick.com has been updated. More toys to come as I find other cool plugins and functionality.

An update from Dad

It’s been a while with nothing to post but photos, so I think it’s worth updating you on the last couple of months.

Poppy’s been ill. For about 2 months solid. Lots of different bugs though. She’s started nursery, and seems to get something each week. I guess it means her immune system is going to be super-strong by the time she’s all done.

She’s had colds (3 or 4- although they kinda merge). She’s had a runny tummy (2-3 times, although, they kinda merge), she’s had one fever- which may have been linked to the chicken pox she had the week after. She’s had a bout of vomiting, where she couldn’t hold anything down- for which she went to hospital (Sick Kids Hospital- thanks to all who work there.) She’s had a lingering cough, for which she’s got antibiotics. The cough has kept us all awake, and often makes her gag or be sick- especially at night. She’s scratched her face, which has a little infection in now- which the same set of antibiotics will hopefully sort out.

Now for the good stuff. Poppy is growing up. In the last two weeks she’s been learining to crawl. One week ago she cracked ‘commando crawling’ where she lies on her tummy, and drags herself along with her arms- commando style. I guess as we have slidey wooden floors, it’s an easy first step. last week she moved onto crawling on all-fours. It’s taken a while for her to crack it- she’s been trying, but what has happened before is she gets up on all fours, her knees slide back, and she ends up crawling backwards. Put her on carpet, and the results are better, but she has paused trying to figure out which hand and knee moves when.

Last week though- she cracked crawling. She can crawl on wooden floors and carpet- although I think she still prefers to drag herself along the wooden floor.

She’s been holding her own bottle for a while- but her latest ‘trick’ is to hold the bottle one handed! Her other latest is when she wakes up, and we go to get her from her cot, she’s standing up, holding onto the edge of the cot for balance.

She’s trying to stand and walk. if she’s feeling grumpy or being too fidgety to sit- we stand her up, and hold her hands and take her for a walk. She loves trying to walk- her balance isn’t there yet- so I don’t think she’ll be walking unaided any time soon.

Poppy Crawls

Poppy is moving on from her ‘commando’ crawl, where she lies on her belly and drags herself along by her arms- to her new ‘on-all-fours’ crawl. She’s not that goot at it yet though. Here’s some early video of her crawling.

Did you notice I can now post video to notnick.com? No. Never mind. It’s very clever you know…
