Cuter than a barrel full of puppies.

Recently, talking to a friend (you know who you are). He has a new puppy, and I have a (relatively) new daughter. He asked how Poppy was, and I told him that she was cuter that a barrel of puppies. He didn’t believe me! (Well, he has a very cute puppy I guess!)

So, That got me thinking. What’s better? Puppies or babies? Here’s 10 reason a baby is better than a puppy. (doubley true for Poppy of course!)

  1. If someone says your puppy looks like you, it’s not a good thing.
  2. It’s not cute when a puppy chews your finger- they have sharp teeth!
  3. Puppies don’t wear nappies- you have to go find those ‘easter eggs’.
  4. From day one-  you have to puppy-proof your house before they chew cables etc.
  5. Babies smile and laugh. Puppies wag their tails. No competition.
  6. When a baby’s older, they can help with the housework and clean up after themselves!
  7. When you get a new baby, lots of people buy him/her presents.
  8. When you have a new baby, you get special time off from your work.
  9. With babies, hardly any grow up to be dogs.
  10. Babies are a great excuse for a party- Birthdays, Christenings, Christmas- repeat for every country, religion and culture.

An update. Things Poppy can do.

Poppy is growing she’s now about 17lbs and filling out well. Here’s what she does:

  1. She smiles. All the time. At anyone. She’s a very happy baby. (which is great for us parents- it feels like we’re doing a good job so far. We may not be- but it feels like we are!)
  2. She Laughs lots. (we love this too)
  3. She’s learnt the game of Peep-poe (is that how you spell it? no idea) and loves it.
  4. She can roll over! OK- this is a biggy. I guess it means she’s a step a way from crawling, and us having to baby-proof the house.
  5. She can sit up. Well, sorta. She can, but eventually, she topples over- usually backwards..
  6. She eats food- well sorta. We’ve been feeding her various blends of veg. She loves it- although has a nasty habit of wearing nearly as much as she eats.
  7. She waves. We were out, and Deirdie waved to another baby, as he and dad walked and waved, Poppy waved back! We even sorta have it on film- just too late- but check the waving(ish) Poppy.

So much has happened.

Let’s see what you’ve missed. Poppy had her first immunisations. She didn’t much like it, and cried.

Super-Poppy

She’s been home to Ireland, and met the family. She was on her best behaviour for most of it too- flashing her 1,000 Watt smile at anyone who held her.

She’s now about twice her birth weight, and looking fab with it. She’s passed the 3 month stage, and so has a whole new wardrobe opening up to her. She’s been wearing clothes other than baby-grows! There’s more photos on the galery pages than I know what ot do with, so go there, and take a look.
